Intro
Let’s get this out of the way first. I’m writing this instructional blog because when I decided I wanted to do drag for the first time, I had the hardest time finding a detailed walkthrough on the Internet. Don’t get me wrong, the Internet was an incredible tool, and I will let you know how it helped me along the way, but what was lacking was a concerted source of all the information I needed to get the job done, and done well.
I ended up fishing through video after video, tonnes of forums, and countless isolated how-to's meant primarily for women to find all the steps I needed. I found them, but it was a painstaking process. I want your journey to be easier, smoother, and less likely to be clocked.
So here it is. A little bit of me, Rowena Whey, my story, and my advice for you, wannabe drag queen, to get you started on your journey to slaying!
So let's talk about me. My real name is Ian. I'm a 25 year old from Edmonton, Canada, and I am at the beginning of my drag adventure. So many things have influenced my decision to do drag, but first and foremost, I just find it fun, as an art form, as a past-time, and maybe eventually as a career if all goes well.
When I'm not in drag I'm in school, working as a personal trainer, and training for triathlons. All in all, I'm busy. Life can be hectic, chaotic and twirly; and while drag isn't my whole life, it has become a large part of it, and I depend on Rowena Whey as an outlet when the rest is getting me down. This blog is derived from that outlet, another way for me to express the importance of this art, and to help others learn to enjoy it in the same, or their own unique ways.
I hope with this tutorial you will find what you need from drag, and will grow as a queen because of it. In the immortal words of RuPaul: "Good luck, and don't fuck it up"
