Step #12: Finishing Touches

Image
Eyebrows You would think that this doesn’t belong in the finishing touches section of a tutorial…and you would be right!!! I fucked up, and forgot to include eyebrows in the eyes post. Oh well, better late than never. Yes, eyebrows truly dazzle, and they are one of my favourite parts of my drag face because I like bitch brows. So much. A high, sharp arch and dark, harsh lines really bring the resting bitch face to the forefront, and when you combine it with my mountain peaks of lips, it’s a truly bitchy sight. The newest trend however is an ombre eyebrow.   This is where you fade your eyebrow into your face towards the bridge of your nose, avoiding harsh lines. You can also ombre the colour to make it darkest towards the outside of your face, and lightest towards the fade. In either case, start your eyebrows with a light colour to plan out the shape, either a light eyebrow pencil, or a powder eyeshadow. If you want a guideline for positioning of the start, end,...

Step #10: Eyes

Image
Hello Queens!! This will be an interesting one, as I am not going to tell you what to do!!! I know!!! It's a shock, and I almost died 😲. I love being bossy!! But this is your chance to REALLY have fun with your makeup. There are a few hints I’ll give for people with eyes like mine, but honestly, there are so many ways to do eye makeup, so many techniques that I am only just learning, so many new techniques being introduced, that I couldn’t even begin to try to start an eye tutorial.   My advice: Play In the words of Trixie Mattel: “The eyes are the window to the hole”.   No lie. When that gorgeous man looks into my eyes across the dance floor he may as well already be there.  But seriously,  t he eyes take longer than any other part of your face, and are the easiest to mess up.   They are also the most important part of your face in terms of looking good in your makeup. If you mess up your eyes, you may as well just put it all away, unless your goal is...

Step #9: Foundation & contour

Rejoice the wonders of makeup. Here is the base of the true transformation.  When comparing male and female faces, the underlying bone structure is what creates the feminine versus the masculine face. With highlight and contour you can emphasize and de-emphasize this bone structure (respectfully). The beginning of this process is fairly standard. If you are a man with heavy dark stubble that likes to show through after only a few hours, you’ll want to start by covering your beard area with a dark foundation, similar to that used to cover the eyebrows. On the left you will see an over exaggerated colouration using dark orange foundation.   The orange tinge will prevent the stubble from being visible beneath your makeup. Willam learned this the hard way.   Make sure you blend out the lines so that they are less harsh. After applying your beard cover, apply a base coat of skin tone (or your chosen skin tone) foundation to the entir...

Step #4: Get your hair did

This is the part that almost bested me. A hair stylist I AM NOT!  My first wig ended up looking so raggedy, split ended, and frizzy I should have taken it a hairdresser for all the time I spent trying to fix it. Would have been worth the money.  Instead I spent days straightening, trimming, and re-curling and styling this wig. Thank goodness it was for Halloween and the curls I styled made the wretched layering a little less noticeable.  However, when the day of judgement came, I took my wig off the manikin head and all of my styling fell apart. I ended up buying a brand new wig the morning I needed it, about 5 minutes before the big reveal. What a nightmare. Picture on the left is my positively destroyed wig mid-styling. Picture on the right is my last-minute purchase wig. I actually ended up really liking the pin-up style. But enough of my trials and tribulations and knotty work. There are three types of wigs. The best, and most expensive, ...
