Step #7: Prepping your body and face
Shave off that unwanted body hair…
…or don’t. Really it’s up to you and your
character, but most queens try to be more feminine in body type, which means,
shave off all of that male body hair. Chest hair, stomach hair, facial hair,
back hair, leg hair, and even down there if you really want to. I do, but then
again, if you’re going to do something, might as well go all the way with it.
Halfway through the hair removal process. Bye bye otter. |
If you’re like me, and have some fur to manage, this step might take a while. You
might want to trim your hair down to skin level first. Have a nice warm shower to soften the hairs, and follow that with a nice
clean shave using lots of shaving cream. For the smoothest result, go against
the grain (this means shave upwards in most cases, not downwards). To help prevent razor burn and ingrown hairs, rinse the shaved areas afterwards with cold water. If you’re still prone to ingrown hairs you will
probably be more comfortable shaving downwards, and just shaving more often.
You have another option
though…WAX!! Especially for those hard
to reach places.
Don’t forget to moisturize once you're done!! Only you know
your skin type, so get something that works for you.
Clean and moisturize your face
Use something free of oils. Oils tend to
mess with makeup application, especially if you need to glue down your
eyebrows.
A good moisturizer and a good primer cannot
be understated. Unless you want your skin to wrinkle, dry out, pimple up, and
generally hate you.
This is also when you can start pinning or
wrapping back your hair. I personally use a wig cap to hold my hair out of my
face. Some queens use nylons, some use bobby pins, others use gel, the choice
is really yours to make!
Once your body is hair-free, your skin is prepped, and you are all stocked up from those incredible shopping trips, it's finally time to PUT IT ALL TOGETHER in Step #8 to come :)
I totally shave my arms now...how things change :)
