My First Performance

Image
I am so pleased with my first performance! I wanted to showcase the multiple personalities of my drag character, and I think I did that with Greedy and Papi, two songs sung by incredibly talented ladies.  I also may have showcased just a little bit more skin than some, but hey, if you've got it flaunt it! Check out the video on youtube by Dragging Our Heels linked below: Rowena Whey - Greedy Thank-you to everyone who came out to support me and all of the other amazing queens who performed last night at the Sunday Review. I can't wait to show more of what I have to offer!

Step #11: Lashes and Lips

Image
Lashes Yay lashes! With every flutter you cause a hurricane across the world because of the damn sheer size! The number or volume of lashes you choose is again, up to you. If you haven’t noticed a trend by now of CHOICE, then you haven’t been paying attention, and I recommend going back and rereading my endless squabbling. To start, curl your natural lashes, and apply mascara. You don’t want to have light lashes peeking out of your solid black falsies. A nice trick from Mathu Andersen (makeup artist to the stars): when applying mascara, use a wet sponge behind the eyelashes to prevent mascara from getting on your face. This goes for your initial application on your eyelashes, and on your falsies. Before you consider applying your false lashes, make sure they are trimmed to the correct size for your eye, and length for your desired look.   Now apply eyelash glue to the seam of the lashes, and wait ~30 seconds for the glue to get tacky (sticky to touch). You can spee...

My new wig!!

So I got a new wig last week, my very first lace front, and I am in love with it. Can't wait to try this lady out! I figured I would post a video showing it off, give you all (whoever you are looking at my blog) a little taste of my actual personality. This is a clip from a conversation with one of my best friends, but I love you too readers!! 😍😍😍 . Enjoy!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TE4gzvchR88&feature=youtu.be Video wouldn't post on blogger, so see it on youtube! (also this is my first youtube video apparently, so there's that milestone!)

Step #10: Eyes

Image
Hello Queens!! This will be an interesting one, as I am not going to tell you what to do!!! I know!!! It's a shock, and I almost died 😲. I love being bossy!! But this is your chance to REALLY have fun with your makeup. There are a few hints I’ll give for people with eyes like mine, but honestly, there are so many ways to do eye makeup, so many techniques that I am only just learning, so many new techniques being introduced, that I couldn’t even begin to try to start an eye tutorial.   My advice: Play In the words of Trixie Mattel: “The eyes are the window to the hole”.   No lie. When that gorgeous man looks into my eyes across the dance floor he may as well already be there.  But seriously,  t he eyes take longer than any other part of your face, and are the easiest to mess up.   They are also the most important part of your face in terms of looking good in your makeup. If you mess up your eyes, you may as well just put it all away, unless your goal is...

Step #9: Foundation & contour

Image
Rejoice the wonders of makeup. Here is the base of the true transformation.  When comparing male and female faces, the underlying bone structure is what creates the feminine versus the masculine face. With highlight and contour you can emphasize and de-emphasize this bone structure (respectfully). The beginning of this process is fairly standard. If you are a man with heavy dark stubble that likes to show through after only a few hours, you’ll want to start by covering your beard area with a dark foundation, similar to that used to cover the eyebrows. On the left you will see an over exaggerated colouration using dark orange foundation.   The orange tinge will prevent the stubble from being visible beneath your makeup. Willam learned this the hard way.   Make sure you blend out the lines so that they are less harsh. After applying your beard cover, apply a base coat of skin tone (or your chosen skin tone) foundation to the entir...

Step #8: Eyebrow coverage

Image
Now for the fun part…the transformation!! Start by removing all stray hairs from around your eyebrows. They are pesky, and will show up through your makeup. This goes for not only your eyebrows, but any other hairs you may have on your face or body (if you’re putting makeup on your neck and chest, check your neck and chest). Proper eyebrow length and shaping guidelines. This image should (may) also be used as a guideline  for drawing on new eyebrows after erasing the face.  (photo from Making Faces by Kevyn Aucoin) If you’ve never plucked your eyebrows before, here is a good rule. Grab a brush or pencil or some other straight long tool (insert dirty thoughts here) and make a line from the outside of each nostril to the corners of your eyes (picture on left). Where the line hits your eyebrow is where your eyebrow starts (1) or ends (3). You’ll notice this is also the ‘rule’ for drawing on new eyebrows, but we’ll get to that later. If you don’...
